Tanto Of The North

This modified tanto has a 6″ long san mai pattern blade made with a 5160 core and layered between alternating L6 and 15N20 with a hammered, forge scale finish and features a copper and nickel mokume gane habaki and guard; the 5160 is harvested from an old leaf spring, and the L6 is harvested from broken band saw blades. The remainder of the handle is comprised of wenge and birdseye maple with copper spacers and pins and a buffalo horn spacer; there is a compass rose North symbol inlay. The sheath is made to match and features felt lining and a copper and buffalo horn collar; the tie loop is made from an old welding ground clamp.
